The manuscript consists of twenty-three notebooks, personally numbered by Marx, totaling 1,472 pages. The entire manuscript has been revised and published in volumes 32-37 of the revised edition. The translation of this volume has been re-edited based on the historical-critical edition of the Collected Works of Marx and Engels (Part 2, Volume 3, Issue 1 and part of Issue 5, published in 1976 and 1980). The chapter "Capital and Profit" was included in the historical-critical edition as part of Part 2, Volume 3, Issue 5. After examination, it was found that this chapter was written immediately after the fifth notebook of the first issue, so we have included this chapter together with the content of notebooks I-V in this volume.
