Features: This textbook is written by the author based on years of practical teaching experience in mechanics and theoretical mechanics at the University of Science and Technology of China and Qingdao University. It integrates the two courses of mechanics and theoretical mechanics. This book can be used as a textbook for the mechanics course in the second semester of the first year and the theoretical mechanics course in the first semester of the second year for physics departments in comprehensive universities, normal universities, and science and engineering universities. It can also serve as a reference book for teachers and students of other disciplines. The book is divided into two volumes. The first volume includes kinematics of a point, dynamics of a point, vibrations and waves, central-force motion, fundamentals of fluid mechanics, and special relativity. The second volume includes kinematics of rigid bodies, dynamics of a system of particles, dynamics of rigid bodies, Lagrangian formulation of mechanics, small oscillations of systems with finite degrees of freedom, and Hamiltonian formulation of mechanics.
