Chinese purple soil. Part 2

Author: He Yurong
Publisher:
Publish Date: 2003-07-01
Features: This book is available for reference for scientific and educational workers in soil science, agriculture, geography, ecology, forestry, environmental science, and related fields. It can also be used by administrative and production management personnel at all levels of relevant departments, as well as college and university students in related majors. The first part of Chinese Purple Soils was published by Science Press in 1991. This book is the second part. The first part focuses on purple soils distributed in the Sichuan Basin, while the second part summarizes research findings on purple soils distributed in more than ten provinces in China, filling the gaps in the disciplinary field left by the first part. The main content of the book is as follows:
Chapters 1 to 4 introduce the general overview, resource characteristics and distribution, geographical environment, purple parent rocks, and soil formation processes of purple soils in China. Chapters 5 to 8 present fundamental research findings on the systematic classification, structural properties, electrochemical characteristics, colloids, and fertility of purple soils. Chapters 9 to 13 discuss applied basic research findings on the N, P, and K nutrition, iron and manganese nutrition, geochemistry of life elements in red earth areas, microbial ecology, and woody nitrogen fixation of purple soils. Chapters 14 to 16 summarize issues such as purple soils, purple slope hollows, red earth paleodetrital crust resources, and soil degradation, as well as their protection and utilization.
The features of this book are:
① Close integration of theoretical and practical research, from basic research to applied basic research to applied development research;
② Application of international new technologies and methods in studying purple soils, such as systematic soil classification, fractal characteristics and ultra-microstructure of soil structure, electrochemical properties, and nitrogen-fixing activity;
③ Reflection of new research findings, such as the iron and manganese nutrition, life elements, and health of purple soils, microbial and woody nitrogen-fixing ecology, and soil degradation;
④ Emphasis on the protection and rational, sustainable utilization of purple soil resources.
