Features: "Fundamentals of Applied Mathematics in Economics" is a required course for finance, economics, and management majors. However, certain content in the course can be challenging for some readers, especially self-learners. For example, some students struggle to grasp certain concepts or master computational techniques. Therefore, many readers have requested the publisher to provide reference materials for this course. In response to this demand, we have compiled this book. It can serve as a "teaching reference" for instructors teaching the course, a "study and exam guide" for undergraduate students and candidates taking self-study exams, a "study guide" for working finance and economics professionals seeking self-improvement or preparing to apply for graduate programs in finance and economics, and a "review manual" for tutoring classes preparing for exams. Each chapter of the book includes three parts: "Analysis and Summaries of Key Concepts and Theorems," "Selected Examples," and "Exercises with Solutions."
When compiling this book, we considered the following:
In the "Analysis and Summaries of Key Concepts and Theorems," we emphasize "clarifying difficulties" and "summarizing patterns." We analyze and explain the challenges and doubts students face, guiding them to correctly identify and understand key concepts, methods, and difficult problems, enabling a deeper and more thorough comprehension. We also summarize pattern-based content to help readers organize and reinforce their knowledge.
In the "Selected Examples," we categorize and analyze typical examples, followed by "summaries" to help readers generalize and apply their knowledge, improving their computational skills and accuracy in understanding basic concepts.
Each chapter's exercises are divided into two parts: (A) and (B). Part (A) includes computational problems, application problems, and proof problems, while Part (B) includes fill-in-the-blank questions and multiple-choice questions (with only one correct option). These exercises are carefully designed to help readers consolidate and deepen their understanding of basic concepts and principles, as well as master computational methods. These exercises are similar to "exam questions," allowing readers to assess their mastery of the material by completing them.
