English translation for the title: "Must-Read for the Transferring Students' English Exam"

Author: Jin Quanyuan, Editor-in-Chief

Publish Date: 2004-02-01
Features: In spring 2004, we launched The Essential Guide for the Special Transfer Examination in English, which was well-received by a broad readership. In response to the changes in the 2004 exam, English majors and non-English majors will take the same exam paper but with different questions. We promptly revised and expanded the book to assist those eager to pass the special transfer exam and fulfill their undergraduate dreams. In recent years, many provinces and cities across the country have implemented programs to select outstanding junior college students for transfer to undergraduate studies. Candidates must first pass the wheel-based foundational courses, including mathematics, English, and Chinese. Many students who have taken this exam have reported that English is the most challenging subject, leaving them unsure how to start their review or how to identify key areas. Similarly, recent grading results have revealed: 1) Candidates' fundamental grammar knowledge is weak; 2) Their ability to flexibly use vocabulary is poor, especially in terms of variant forms of common words, i.e., their ability to construct words that conform to both syntactic and semantic rules through affixes is limited; 3) Candidates' reading skills are confined to isolated word and sentence comprehension, with significantly weaker abilities in comprehensive and in-depth understanding of texts as a whole; 4) Candidates' translation and expression skills at the sentence level are very low, leading to substantial score losses in English-Chinese and Chinese-English translation tasks in the exam. Currently, most English teaching and testing materials on the market are designed for CET-4, CET-6, and English Proficiency Tests, with very few truly tailored for the special transfer exam. Based on the authors' extensive experience in special transfer daily teaching and pre-exam tutoring over the past four years, this book systematically categorizes and thoroughly analyzes various question types, introduces new guidance on English writing, provides in-depth yet accessible explanations and summaries of exam-related knowledge points, offers targeted guidance on exam skills, and carefully selects and organizes simulated questions. Additionally, it includes authentic past two-year special transfer exam papers in English with detailed answer explanations, offering candidates a shortcut to success. We believe this book will make your special transfer English review and exam preparation effortless and confident.
