Brahms Violin Concerto in D Major, Op. 77

Author: [German] Brahms composed, Zheng Shisheng arranged
Publisher:
Publish Date: 2004-04-01
Features: The Violin Concerto was composed between 1877 and 1878. It is the only violin concerto ever created by Brahms in his lifetime. However, this violin concerto is not only one of Brahms' greatest works but also, together with Beethoven (in D major) and Mendelssohn (in E minor), Tchaikovsky (in D major), and other masterpieces, is known as the "Four Great Concertos." The piece carries a strong pastoral flavor and Hungarian folk music influences, with a harmonious blend of tranquility and depth that is uniquely Brahmsian. In this work, Brahms successfully combines the passion of Romanticism with the rigor of Classicism, and he makes many bold innovations in form.
