Features: Every kind of atmosphere must be about inheritance. When we talk about the spirit of Peking University and its atmosphere, it ultimately relies on its—people—to embody it. Where does the backbone and sense of mission of Peking University people come from?—Peking University's history and environment are all essential origins, but as one Peking University student said, it is the "gentle spring sunshine of teacher's teaching"—that influence, coming from Peking University's former and current teachers and masters. For over a century, the footsteps of countless celebrities have accompanied Peking University's trajectory; their former or current residences, like Peking University itself, are shrouded in sacred glory. A year ago, we visited the famous former residences of Peking University in the city's Shantai area. In the past year, we have also visited Yannan Garden many times, listening to the teachings of Mr. Rui Mu, Mr. Hou Renzhi, Mr. Lin Geng, and others, though all of them are over ninety years old, their minds remain very clear and their thinking remains extremely agile; we have also visited many predecessors such as Mr. Ji Xianlin, Mr. Lin Tao, Mr. Xu Xianyu, Mr. Zong Pu, and Mr. Tang Yixuan, who recall many stories about the celebrities and their residences in Yan Yuan with deep affection. It is with their help that we were able to write the stories of those masters.
