Features: The unit is like a tree covered with monkeys. Looking up, you see nothing but butts; looking down, you see nothing but smiling faces; looking left or right, you see nothing but informants. Everyone wants to climb up a few branches to see more smiling faces. In a certain department, there are five people: the fat director, Ma Erhu, Big Old Liu, Wang Xiaocong, and a male colleague. The fifth is a new female college student named Simin. In the entire organization, this department is considered relatively idle—there’s no harm in having it, and no harm in not having it. Except for the fat director, everyone else is a head (a senior administrative staff). The former deputy section chief was promoted to a section chief in another department, leaving the position temporarily vacant. The director of the division in charge is quite the opposite of the fat director—a slim, youthful man in his fifties, who is not old in heart.
