Patient's question:
The patient is a newborn, 4 days old. CT scan suggests: meningocele, located at: occipital top, the size of the protruding cystic structure is approximately: 2.0×1.5 cm, no definite brain tissue is seen within the structure.Doctor's answer:
Points to note:1) In improving postural stability and balance, techniques such as loading, compression, alternating light tapping, spatial positioning of limbs, and control are useful and can be applied as needed.
2) Vibration is not suitable for these patients.
3) The rhythmic stabilization in PNF is not appropriate for establishing posture and proximal stability in these patients, as the issue lies in regulating movement through fine motor control rather than activating motor units or maintaining a fixed position.
4) When patients still lack postural stability and balance, straight-force movements should not be performed in a water exercise pool, as buoyancy can exacerbate imbalance.
