Features: Shakuntala is the main work of the great ancient Indian poet Kalidasa. The era in which Kalidasa lived is controversial. Some scholars believe he was born several hundred years BC, while others believe he was born several hundred years AD, with a gap of as much as eight or nine hundred years. The general view is that he was born during the Gupta Dynasty, around 350 to 472 AD.
