Features: The Miao ethnic group is a nation with a long history, known for its diligence, bravery, and wisdom. They primarily reside in provinces such as Guizhou, Hunan, Yunnan, Sichuan, Guangxi, and Hubei in China, with a population exceeding ten million. Among them, the Miao people living in Guizhou account for approximately 5.3 million, making up 58.24% of the total Miao population in China. Over thousands of years, the Miao people have developed their own traditional medicine through their long struggle against diseases, which has gained worldwide recognition for its remarkable efficacy. In the current global trend of "returning to nature," ethnic medicine has attracted significant attention from the international medical community, and a surge in research on Miao medicine is quietly emerging. This book is compiled by the editor based on Miao medicine practices across various regions and extensive clinical experience, accompanied by over 700 exquisite illustrations, aiming to provide a reference for medical professionals, pharmaceutical researchers, and enthusiasts of Miao medicine for further study.
1. This book focuses on introducing 368 commonly used Miao medicinal herbs, with each sixth herb accompanied by two color images of the original plant, along with commonly used Miao herbal formulas. The book also includes information on the origins, migrations, and traditional Miao medicine knowledge of the Miao ethnic group, as well as a Latin index.
2. The official names of the herbs in this book are the commonly used Chinese names in Miao regions. The "Miao names" primarily refer to Miao herbal names from sources such as Miao Medicine Science, with approximate Mandarin transliterations and source locations noted in parentheses. For Miao herbal names in regions outside Guizhou, the book mainly references China's Ethnic Medicine Dictionary, without adding Miao script where the original text did not. Only approximate Mandarin transliterations are collected. The "Common Miao Herbal Formulas" are widely used in Miao regions, proven effective through long-term clinical practice by Miao physicians.
3. The "Chinese names" in this book are abbreviated due to space constraints. For example, Shen Nong's Herbal Classic is abbreviated as Ben Cao, Shen Nong's Herbal Classic Collected Annotations as Ben Cao Jizhu, Compendium of Materia Medica as Gang Mu, Supplement to the Compendium of Materia Medica as Gang Mu Yiyi, List of Medicinal Plants in Guangxi as Guangxi Yao Zhi, Flora of Guangzhou as Guangzhou Zhi Zhi, Flora of China as Zhongguo Yao Zhi, and Flora of Northeast China as Dongbei Yao Zhi, among others.
