How can you know if your baby is getting enough breast milk in a day?

Patient's question:

How can a breastfeeding baby know that the baby has had enough milk for this meal, and how can you know that the baby has had enough breast milk for the day?

Doctor's answer:

If there is enough breast milk, babies can usually be full within 10 to 15 minutes. After being full, the baby will play quietly or fall asleep peacefully. If the baby still cannot fall asleep long after finishing the milk, or starts crying and fussing again shortly after falling asleep, or remains restless and unhappy, or needs to be fed again within 3 hours, these situations indicate that the milk supply is insufficient.
