Does neonatal hemolytic jaundice have sequelae?

Patient's question:

My daughter was born recently, she is one year old. Right after birth, the nurse took her for a routine check-up and discovered that my daughter has hemolytic jaundice. The nurse said it can be treated, but I am still very worried. So, I would like to ask if there are any long-term effects of neonatal hemolytic jaundice?

Doctor's answer:

If it's discovered early in these days and the treatment is relatively effective, there won't be any aftereffects, so there's no need to worry too much. If you're afraid the child will have aftereffects, you can have a blood test checked every six months or a year to see if there's any anemia. In daily life, make sure not to let the child get overly tired. Wishing your baby good health.
