White lines on the nails!

Patient's question:

Over the past eight and a half months, I've noticed that my baby's hands have a few small white lines on their nails. The baby is otherwise healthy in all aspects. This situation has occurred before, but it disappears after a while. What could be the reason for this? Is it possible that the baby is lacking in certain trace elements...

Doctor's answer:

Must be well-nourished for nails to grow normally, otherwise many abnormal phenomena may reappear.
Nails can reflect health status. By carefully observing nail changes, you can understand the body's symptoms.
- Pale nails: Chronic anemia or liver/kidney problems.
- White spots: Zinc deficiency. Can be replenished by consuming seafood, spinach, mushrooms, grains, sunflower seeds, etc.
- Easily breaks: Iron deficiency. Can be replenished by consuming dark green leafy vegetables, fish, beans, grains, etc.
- Yellow nails: Vitamin E deficiency, or may indicate lymphatic or respiratory system issues.
- Uneven texture: If accompanied by striped lines, it may indicate poor liver health.
How to check nail health:
Nail growth is faster in summer than in winter, and finger nails grow faster than toe nails. Health conditions are also reflected on nails! So quickly check your nails to see if they are healthy.
Nail color: Usually light pink, but frequent use of nail polish or acetone can turn nails yellow.
Nail flexibility: Gently press the nail tip with another finger. If it slightly bends, the hardness is just right. If it's too soft, the nail is unhealthy.
Nail plate smoothness: Sometimes grooves may be visible from the side. Nails need more care to stabilize the condition.
Surrounding skin: If the skin around the nails is too dry or rough, use massage and conditioning to improve the condition.
