Features: This book is the sixth volume of the "Comprehensive Course." Below is a brief introduction to the four parts of each unit in the book:
Part I provides a recording closely related to the theme of each unit, which students are required to preview before class. The transcript of the recording is appended at the end of the book for reference. This activity aims to activate students' existing knowledge schemas, guide them into the topic, and prepare them for learning the text.
Part II consists of three sections: the main text, a glossary, and exercises. The annotations for the text are in footnotes. The exercise section mainly includes the following aspects:
1. Text comprehension
2. Language awareness cultivation
3. Language practice
Part III also consists of three sections: the supplementary text, a glossary, and exercises. The annotations for the text are also in footnotes. Each unit's glossary lists 20 CET-4 words and phrases as reusable vocabulary for practice. Other new words and phrases should be looked up in the glossary at the end of the book. The exercises include multiple-choice questions related to the text, translation of text sentences, and word fill-in. The answers to the exercises are also appended at the end of the book.
Part IV is an advanced, comprehensive oral and written practice activity. It is conducted after students have studied the main and supplementary texts and completed a series of language practices, assuming they have mastered the content and language expressions of the relevant topics. It mainly consists of two parts: group discussions and classroom writing. The latter is based on the former. In the appendix of the exercise answers at the end of the book, there is a sample essay for students to refer to.
