Features: This book is included in the "21st Century Journalism and Communication Series Textbooks," which seems to imply it should have some novelty. This has presented us with a challenge. Reporting methods and news writing techniques can and should be continuously innovated as the times progress. However, the activity of news reporting itself has its own unique principles. The fundamental principles, methods, and requirements of news writing, which reflect these principles, are universal and should not be overlooked. Rather, only by adhering to the fundamental principles, applying the basic methods, and meeting the basic requirements can one produce qualified and excellent news works. This applies to news reports as well as news features. Based on these considerations, this book features a "General Introduction" that emphasizes several fundamental issues in greater detail. This book inherits the strengths of the original "News Feature Writing" edited by Tang Shiyin and published by China Renmin University Press, while adding new content and highlighting new characteristics. In summary, there are five key features.
1. A "General Introduction" section is specially designed to introduce universal content such as the fundamental principles, methods, requirements, perspectives, transitions, and language of news reporting.
2. Dedicated chapters are set up to discuss widely used non-event news, analytical news, and descriptive news in today's context.
3. Strong attention is given to the emerging research topic of online news.
4. Case-based teaching is employed to compare news works on the same subject but written in different styles.
5. A focus is placed on the main body of news formats, specifically news reports and news features, while also covering the phenomenon and writing methods of news formats that combine narrative, description, expression, commentary, explanation, and prediction.
In short, it strives to perfectly combine theory with writing practice, as well as traditional conventions with the spirit of the times.
