Features: This report presents the research findings of the expert working group on the expansion of traditional accounting models and the integration of environmental performance with financial performance. Due to the difficulty in proving a precise correlation between improvements in corporate environmental performance and profits, the concept of ecological efficiency—wherein corporate profits can increase despite continuously reducing negative environmental impacts—indicates that there is indeed some connection between the two. Although ecological efficiency indicators are theoretically useful, their construction and application still present many unresolved issues. This report proposes a method for combining environmental performance and financial performance indicators to measure a company's progress in achieving ecological efficiency or sustainability.
