Features: This is the first complete collection of works by the literary giant Shen Congwen, currently the largest and most comprehensive collection of Shen Congwen's works in China. The Complete Works of Shen Congwen includes all published literary works, academic writings, and correspondence of Mr. Shen Congwen collected to date. The collection contains over 10 million words, including approximately 4.4 million words of unpublished works and letters by the author. It also includes over 1,710 illustrations, nearly 200 of which are precious historical materials such as life photos, autographs, and sketches of paintings from different periods of the author's life. The collection is organized into volumes by genre, including novels, essays, biographies, miscellaneous writings, poetry, literary theory, letters, supplementary writings, and material cultural history.
The author's research on ancient Chinese jade craftsmanship began around the winter of 1949. Over the following two or three years, while collecting relevant materials, he gradually wrote some notes and thematic articles. To the best of our knowledge, jade craftsmanship was the field he chose to systematically study after transitioning to a museum career. However, in the early 1950s, due to political tasks such as attending a revolutionary university, participating in land reform work teams, and joining the "Five Anti" task force, his work at the Historical Museum was intermittent. As a result, his research on jade craftsmanship was always carried out intermittently and in pieces.
This collection includes 10 articles by the author on Chinese jade craftsmanship, none of which have been published before. The title of the collection is proposed by the editor.
