Features: The "Chinese Listening and Speaking Course" is designed for students who have completed one year of basic modern Chinese education or for foreign learners who have mastered 2,500-3,000 common words and fundamental grammar points. It can be used as a textbook for second-year undergraduate students of Chinese majors, as well as for intermediate-level long-term classes and short-term intensive training programs. The entire book is divided into two volumes and two reference books, with a total of 6 units and 24 lessons. Each unit includes one lesson-specific exercise. Each lesson is divided into listening and speaking sections. The listening section includes three audio materials and listening exercises, while the speaking section includes pronunciation exercises, expression form exercises, situational dialogues, and free expression exercises. The unit exercises review and expand on the content, topics, functions, and expression forms learned in the unit. The textbook strives to integrate structure, function, and culture. The entire book is organized around functional sequences and topic sequences. Each lesson focuses on two main functional items and arranges a set of parallel topics to practice these functions, while consciously incorporating relevant cultural backgrounds and oral expression forms. This textbook provides a more detailed theoretical analysis of listening and speaking skills, aiming to effectively cultivate comprehensive listening and speaking abilities. We break down listening and speaking skills into several micro-skills. The exercises are designed to target specific or multiple speech skills, with clear objectives, requirements, training methods, and evaluation methods. Through purposeful and planned training in micro-skills, students can improve their comprehensive listening and speaking abilities. The textbook strictly follows the framework established by the teaching syllabus. The input of vocabulary and structures closely aligns with the standards set by the syllabus. The functions are carefully selected from a functional system, and the choice of expression forms is based on statistics of hundreds of examples from dozens of textbooks. The selection of language materials follows the principles of authenticity, practicality, and diversity, including content such as news reports, current affairs commentary, everyday reflections, science and technology reports, literary sketches, etc., making it more modern life. The style of language is primarily that of young intellectuals, encompassing the speech of people of different ages, occupations, interests, and cultural backgrounds in various scenarios. At the same time, as an intermediate listening and speaking textbook, we strive to reflect the oral and standardized nature of the language while avoiding local dialects and colloquial language. The listening standard of the textbook is to understand roughly the continuous explanation with normal speed and familiar content in the classroom, as well as to understand basic standard Mandarin or slightly accented Mandarin in daily communication. The speaking standard is to meet the needs of general daily life, social interaction, and certain work-related requirements, enabling students to express personal opinions on general topics, participate in conversations, and engage in discussions or debates.
