Surgical operation is one of the main methods for treating diseases. With the development of science and the advancement of medical technology, the scope of surgical treatment has been continuously expanding. Surgical techniques have undergone many improvements and innovations, and many new surgical methods have emerged. Traditional surgical methods have also evolved. To meet the needs of the development of surgery in China and to provide a comprehensive introduction to various surgical methods currently used in clinical practice as well as perioperative management, we, under the organization and leadership of the Health Department of the General Logistics Department of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, compiled this "Comprehensive Surgery."
Focusing on the urgent needs of surgical doctors and the realities of clinical work, the book presents practical perspectives, emphasizing the systematic introduction of commonly used conventional surgical procedures and their modifications. It also highlights new surgical methods that represent current trends and analyzes controversial surgical approaches with significant clinical impact. Additionally, it includes some uncommon but academically significant surgeries. The content of this book is quite comprehensive, offering rich knowledge.
Based on the previous edition, this book systematically elaborates on the fundamental theories and various surgical methods in plastic and burn surgery. It covers various skin grafts, flaps, tissue transplantation, scar and keloid management, surgical treatment of superficial tumors, skin and soft tissue expansion, endoscopic techniques in plastic surgery, reconstructive surgery for scalp and skull, as well as deformities and defects of the eyes, ears, nose, lips, hands, torso, lower limbs, external genitalia, and perianal regions. It also includes aesthetic surgery, burn debridement, skin grafting for repair, amputation, and special burn management. The book primarily focuses on common and classic surgeries while also introducing relatively mature and newly developed procedures.
Each surgical procedure is detailed in terms of indications, contraindications, preoperative preparation, anesthesia and positioning, surgical steps, key points during the operation, postoperative management, and major complications. It is accompanied by precise anatomical diagrams and surgical operation illustrations. The authors primarily summarize their own practical experience while referencing the latest domestic and international literature, providing a relatively comprehensive reflection of the current development level of plastic and burn surgery. The book holds high academic and practical value, making it suitable for plastic surgeons, burn surgeons, and students and faculty of medical schools for learning and reference.
