Features: Since the founding of New China, the state has been very concerned about the study of history, but due to limited financial resources, it has been difficult to fund projects comprehensively. We are a group of middle-aged and young scholars dedicated to the study of Eastern history. In light of this, several years ago, we raised funds independently to establish a private research institution, which is now the Center for Eastern History Research of the Chinese Society for History Studies. In the early stages of our establishment, our main focus was on preliminary research discussions. However, realizing the limitations of our research capabilities, we decided to use the independently raised funds to establish the "Eastern History Research Publishing Fund" to support the publication of outstanding research results on Eastern history. Wu Yanhong's monograph conducts a multi-level, dynamic study of the Ming Dynasty's military service regulations and penalties. It provides an in-depth discussion of the Ming Dynasty's penal system and the relationship between military service and military governance during the Ming Dynasty. It is currently the most comprehensive, systematic, and in-depth study of the issue of military service in the Ming Dynasty. In the history of ancient China, the law and military system of the Ming Dynasty were unique, and many issues require further research. Military service, closely related to these aspects, is one of the important topics. This book is one of the few works in the world dedicated to the study of military service in the Ming Dynasty. The author's courage in pioneering and innovating in academia is self-evident.
