What is the situation when the baby always cries at night while sleeping?

Patient's question:

At about 9 PM when the baby is supposed to take a nap, drinking formula doesn't help them sleep either. They just keep fussing, rolling around in bed, crying with their eyes closed. What could be going on?
Past treatment and effectiveness: The pediatrician said the baby is calcium deficient and suggested taking calcium supplements, which we have been doing.
What kind of help are you seeking: Please help me guess what might be causing this.

Doctor's answer:

Crying comes in two types: one is physiological crying. This is an instinctive response, a way for babies to express their emotions and seek comfort, which may be due to hunger, temperature changes, excessive fright, or nightmares. In this case, parents only need to calmly soothe the baby to help it regain complete calm. Apart from a pathological crying that warrants sufficient attention, any illness that causes pain, itching, or discomfort to the child will make it cry restlessly.
