Features: This dictionary is a medium-sized idiom dictionary, containing over 8,000 entries. The entries in this dictionary are designed to be standardized. Two approaches are adopted: First, entries are established in standardized written forms, with occasional irregular word forms pointed out. Second, entries are divided into main entries and subentries. Main entries are listed with explanations, while subentries are introduced using the phrase "also written as." This approach accommodates the objective reality of Chinese idioms having numerous synonyms, near-synonyms, and variant forms, enhancing the scientific and practicality of the dictionary's word selection and establishment. It helps readers gain a comprehensive understanding of the complexities and overall landscape of Chinese idioms. The definitions in this dictionary are concise and accurate, clear and easy to understand, and highly targeted. The explanatory style is flexible, not confined to a single format. The content of this dictionary is rich and the materials are well-documented. Extensive preparatory work was done before writing, collecting over 100,000 reference cards. We used ancient materials to explore the origins of idioms and modern, contemporary, and contemporary book evidence to trace their evolution. Except for a few entries without examples, most entries are supported by book evidence, reflecting the meaning, usage, and temporal context of the idioms.
