Features: Some say that when you're lost and at a crossroads, as long as you take a step forward, you'll find a way. This is the principle of "extremes meet." But if you lie down and do nothing, it's as good as being buried. In reality, who doesn't want to achieve great things? Who is willing to live a mediocre life? This book explores ten aspects—such as being the person you want to be, doing the things you want to do, and putting people before tasks—through insightful examples, revealing the true meaning of "a way out" for those who are lost and uncertain. It holds great significance for unlocking your potential, realizing your life's value, finding your shining moment, and reaching the pinnacle of success. The book's greatest feature lies in combining the philosophy of success with the art of being and doing, encouraging readers to learn by doing and do by learning, gradually finding their own path by cultivating their habits, thinking, and actions. As the saying goes in a song: "To survive, first dry your tears, walk forward, and there's a sky ahead." In truth, your path to success is hidden in your character, mindset, wisdom, and every word and action. In this increasingly competitive society, fresh graduates seek their right jobs, laid-off workers discover new fields, and many young people search for their own way. This book is a gift to those who struggle in adversity.
Chapter 1: Be the Person You Want to Be
Everyone has their own dreams, and to make them come true, you must be awake. You must find your place, dig out the gold mine of your life, and refuse to be a prisoner of fate! As long as you believe you can, you can! Knowing yourself and understanding yourself is more important than knowing others. If a person doesn't even understand themselves, how can they make sound strategic plans for their life? Socrates once said, "Know thyself," and here, we further propose the idea of "understanding yourself." Aspiring individuals have all experienced how difficult it is to understand themselves, but some have also criticized this phrase. French writer Sisyphe said, "Those who strive to understand themselves as caterpillars will never become butterflies." His criticism has some merit. Sometimes, understanding yourself, especially by analyzing your weaknesses, can lead you into the depths of self-doubt. However, if you analyze yourself based on your personality and abilities, identify your strengths and weaknesses, and reflect "honestly" with courage, you will become an excellent captain of your own destiny.
Albert Einstein's university professor, Professor Pereny, once told him seriously, "You have passion and kindness in your work, but you lack ability. Why didn't you study medicine, law, or philosophy instead of physics?" Fortunately, Einstein knew he had enough talent in physics and did not listen to that professor. Otherwise, perhaps our field of physics would not be as advanced as it is today. Different scientific fields require different qualities and talents. For example:
- To be an outstanding clinical doctor, a strong memory is essential.
- To study theoretical physics, abstract thinking is indispensable.
- A mathematician does not necessarily need hands-on skills, design abilities, or experimental skills, though these are crucial for a chemist.
- Astronomy is primarily an observational science, requiring excellent observation skills, a strong interest, and long-term patience for detailed observation.
People's interests, talents, and qualities are also different. If one does not understand this, fails to leverage their strengths, and enters a field that requires qualities and talents they lack, they will themselves. Conversely, if you have self-awareness, know how to design your path, and work in your area of greatest expertise, you will achieve success. There are countless examples of this: Darwin was clueless in mathematics and medicine but brilliant when it came to plants and animals. Isaac Asimov was both a science popularizer and a natural scientist. One day, he suddenly realized, "I may not be a top scientist, but I could be a top science writer." So he devoted almost all his energy to science writing and became one of the most famous science writers in the world today. Roentgen originally studied engineering science. Under the influence of his teacher Konrad, he conducted some physics experiments and gradually realized that this was the field him. Later, he indeed became a successful physicist.
