In short, these two books will greatly assist students in learning and memorizing ancient Chinese poetry, which will be our greatest satisfaction.
To comprehensively improve the Chinese language proficiency of primary and secondary school students, enhance the modern awareness of Chinese language courses, and promote new learning methods, the Ministry of Education issued the Full-Time Compulsory Education Chinese Language Curriculum Standards and the General High School Chinese Language Curriculum Standards as core components of the fundamental education curriculum reform in 2001 and 2003, respectively. The Chinese Language Curriculum Standards serve as the basis for teaching, assessment, and exam question-setting, as well as the foundation for national curriculum management and evaluation. They reflect the fundamental requirements of the state for students at different stages in terms of knowledge, skills, processes, and methods. Compared to the original Chinese Language Teaching Syllabus for primary and secondary schools, the Curriculum Standards have made significant adjustments to the nature, tasks, goals, and core concepts of the Chinese language subject.
In line with the new reform spirit and curriculum philosophy, the new standards have made substantial changes to the specific titles of extracurricular reading materials in the original syllabus and have prescribed the total amount of reading required for students at different stages, urging primary and secondary school students to read widely. To this end, we have compiled and published this series of New Curriculum Standards Required Reading Books. All the titles in the series are designated by the new standards. To assist students in reading, we have included an introductory essay before each classic work, providing an in-depth yet accessible introduction to the book. The main features of this series are its complete revisions, detailed annotations, accurate translations, and suitability for primary and secondary school students. We believe it will undoubtedly become a trusted guide and companion for students, as well as a valuable collection for families.
