Features: In the context of the new century, how to seize historical strategic opportunities, fully utilize comparative advantages, and implement the "Go Global" strategy is an urgent research topic for Yunnan Province at present. It is a requirement of the times and also an important measure to ensure the long-term, sustainable, and coordinated development of Yunnan's economy. To this end, the Yunnan Academy of Social Sciences and the Yunnan Provincial Department of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation jointly formed a research team in June 2002 to study the important topic of "The Strategy for China-Myanmar Economic and Technological Cooperation from 2003 to 2010."
Opening a new chapter in the 21st century, what lies before us are the phenomena of the tortuous development of world multipolarity, the deepening of economic globalization, and the rapid advancement of science and technology. China's entry into the WTO and the establishment of a free trade area between China and ASEAN have brought unprecedented opportunities, challenges, and responsibilities to China. The Party Central Committee and the State Council proposed the implementation of the "Go Global" strategy, and conducting international economic and technological cooperation marks a strategic turning point in China's opening-up policy, shifting from "exchanging markets for technology and capital" to "exchanging markets for markets, and exchanging capital and technology for markets."
Yunnan Province shares a common mountain range and river sources with the Indochina Peninsula and borders Vietnam, Laos, and Myanmar, maintaining close economic and cultural ties with Southeast Asia. It is located at the forefront of China's opening-up policy in the inland frontier region.
