Features: This book is one of the series textbooks for the public professional courses of the 21 universities in China, which focuses on the reform of higher education in materials science and engineering for the 21st century. The content of this book is defined within the scope of the first-level discipline "Materials Science and Engineering." It is a systematic textbook that integrates and optimizes the content of various second-level disciplines (specialties) courses previously divided among different departments (categories) before the educational reform, such as "X-ray Diffraction," "Electron Microscopic Analysis," and "Instrumental Analysis," as well as some new methods developed in recent years. The book adopts a horizontal comprehensive and vertical expansion chapter structure, with a total of 5 parts and 18 chapters, each followed by exercises and references.
Part I (General Theory) introduces the general principles of modern material analysis methods, analyzes the common foundations of major methods, and provides an overview of the detection processes and applications of various methods. Part II (Diffraction Analysis), Part III (Electron Microscopic Analysis), Part IV (Spectroscopy and Electron Spectroscopy Analysis), and Part V (Other Analysis Methods), based on Part I, provide a more detailed introduction to the principles, detection processes and instruments, data analysis and processing, and typical applications of various methods.
This book is suitable for teaching use as a public textbook for first-level disciplines or second-level disciplines in materials science and engineering. It can adapt to different teaching hours by ensuring Part I is mandatory and other parts are optional. The recommended teaching hours (range) are 50-80. The book can also be used as a reference for graduate students and related technical personnel.
