Features: He Kongde, born in April 1925, is from Xichong, Sichuan. In 1942, he studied at the Fine Arts Department of National Chongqing Normal School. In 1946, he transferred to the dyeing and printing department of Sichuan Provincial Fine Arts College. In 1946, he joined the People's Liberation Army and worked in the cultural troupe of the Twelfth Army. In 1951, he joined the Volunteer Army and engaged in art promotion in Korea. In 1955, he was admitted to the Maximo oil painting training class of the Central Academy of Fine Arts led by Soviet experts. He graduated in 1957 and became an artist at the Cultural Creation Studio of the General Political Department. In 1962, he was transferred to the Chinese People's Revolutionary Military Museum to engage in art creation. In 1980, he became the deputy director of the creation studio of the Military Museum, and retired in 1987. He is a standing committee member of the China Artists Association and the of the Oil Painting Art Committee of the China Artists Association. He is skilled in oil painting and watercolor painting. His oil painting "Before the Attack" is collected by the National Art Museum of China; his oil painting "Military Commission Plenary Session" co-created with Gao Hong won the second prize in the fifth National Fine Arts Exhibition, and he participated in the creation of the panoramic painting "Battle of Lugou Bridge." He has published "Selected Oil Paintings of He Kongde" and "He Kongde Art Album." Major works include: "Letter from the Motherland," "Before the Attack," "Chairman Mao at the Peasant Movement Training Institute," "Chairman Mao at Writing," "Armed and Ready," "Life Never Ends, Charge Never Stops," "Gutian Conference," and "Ganzhou Mountain Reunion." Co-created works include "Unity in Step Wins Victory," "Military Commission Plenary Session," and "Taierzhuang Great Victory," and he led the creation of the panoramic painting "Battle of Lugou Bridge."
