Features: The book "Practical Sports Medicine" is a large-scale reference tool edited by the Institute of Sports Medicine at Peking University Health Science Center (formerly the Institute of Sports Medicine, Peking University). Since 1965, it has been published in three editions. The content is divided into four main parts: sports health care, sports nutrition, sports trauma, and medical sports (sports therapy). The content is both profound and accessible, emphasizing both fundamental theory and practical application. As a result, it is highly favored by sports medicine professionals, doctors, graduate students, and coaches. Sports medicine is a discipline that combines sports and medicine. It primarily studies medical issues arising from exercise and lack of exercise, aiming to improve medical treatment, prevention, rehabilitation, and training levels, enhance health, and improve athletic performance. The goal is to better serve health through sports, and for professional athletes, there is an even more important task of improving athletic performance to bring honor to the nation. With the development of the Olympic Movement, the training and competition of athletes have become increasingly intense, leading to a growing number of medical issues. Undoubtedly, the content of sports medicine also needs continuous updating and expansion. The third edition of "Practical Sports Medicine" was published in 1995, with writing starting in 1993, nearly a decade later, making a new edition urgently needed. The guiding principles for this revision are: 1. Emphasizing the theoretical foundation of sports medicine but placing greater importance on the basic knowledge relevant to clinical practice. The content will see significant additions and deletions. 2. Focusing on new technologies that are effective in practice and have promising development prospects. 3. Adapting to Olympic needs. 4. Making it easier for readers to access information. Based on these principles, this book separates Cardiology in Sports as a distinct section. It also adds content on research progress in basic knowledge related to new technologies in sports trauma, such as engineered cartilage, artificial menisci, cytokine expression in osteoarthritis; as well as expanded sections on imaging diagnosis techniques for trauma, arthroscopic surgery techniques, and corresponding rehabilitation content. The chapters on sports nutrition and sports therapy have also been significantly revised from an applied perspective. This book is a large-scale reference tool written by multiple experts, with over 3 million words, each author bringing unique writing styles and expressions. To facilitate reading, efforts have been made to maintain consistency throughout the book.
