Features: The first 54 titles of the "Contemporary Collection of Overseas Linguistics and Applied Linguistics" have achieved great success since their release in September 2000. The initial print run of 5,000 sets was in high demand, requiring a second print run of 6,000 sets by October. Publishing such a large-scale collection of linguistic works in just a few months is rare in the history of academic publishing in China. Since its publication, numerous institutions and individuals have eagerly ordered it. Graduate and undergraduate students regard the Collection as a valuable guide, while teachers of all ages view it as a source of knowledge renewal. Practical evidence shows that the Collection, launched by FLTRP, has been widely praised by the Chinese linguistic and foreign language teaching communities. It will become a treasure trove for advancing linguistic teaching and research as well as foreign language teaching and research in China. Building on the success of the first 54 titles, FLTRP is now introducing the second installment of the Collection, consisting of 58 new titles. The second installment of the Collection features five key characteristics: First, it comprises 58 English-language original works, expanding the coverage of disciplines from 26 in the first installment to 33 now, including newly added fields such as the history of linguistics, philosophy of language, cognitive linguistics, anthropological linguistics, the origins of language, and chemical grammar theories, thereby meeting a broader range of reader needs. Second, it includes influential works by renowned linguists such as Saussure, Sapir, Bloomfield, Halliday, Chomsky, Austin, Grice, and Leech, ensuring higher authority. Third, it incorporates classic linguistic works published by prestigious international publishers such as Oxford University Press and Harvard University Press. Fourth, it still features expert introductions, with an even stronger team of experts than in the first installment. Fifth, the Collection is prefaced by renowned linguist Professor Noam Chomsky of the world and Professor Jiaxuan Shen of China. This Collection is a large-scale, open-series that will play a positive role in advancing linguistic teaching and research and foreign language teaching and research in China. In the future, FLTRP will continue to introduce the latest and most influential works in linguistics and applied linguistics, constantly offering them to readers worldwide.
