In just over sixty thousand words, the author, through a review and comparison of the history of painting in the East and the West, relies on rigorous logical reasoning to establish a vast theoretical system, which is the highly noted "spherical theory" of painting art in the 1980s. Starting from the point of resolving the debate over the future of Chinese painting, the author unintentionally reveals certain laws of Chinese painting and even the development of painting. Thus, in the process of his argumentation and interpretation, the comparison of Eastern and Western painting art from form to connotation becomes a key issue.
