The industry associations in our country have developed from the original planned economy system, in the reconstruction of the relationship between the state and society. Their functional realization is closely related to the positioning of the relationship between the state and society. This book combines the role positioning of industry associations in the social structure with their functional analysis, thereby arguing that: industry associations, in terms of their functional essence, are like enterprises, both products of reducing transaction costs. The current industry associations in our country, arising from different models of the relationship between the state and society, manifest three forms: "top-down," "market intrinsic," and "intermediate model." Correspondingly, they reflect the function of reducing transaction costs in different aspects, thus forming different functional positioning of industry associations. The realization of industry management models must be placed within the changing trends of the relationship between the state and society. Based on the innovative experiences of local industry association management systems and the judgment of the future trend of the reconstruction of the relationship between the state and society in China, this book proposes the development direction of industry associations and strategic choices for the transformation of their management systems. The seven cases in the second part of the book, with detailed hand materials, present innovative models of role positioning, functional mechanisms, and management systems of industry associations from different perspectives.
