The volumes on the Sui, Tang, Five Dynasties, and Ning dynasties each consist of two sub-series, totaling approximately 1 million words. The remaining volumes are single sub-series, each with about 500,000 words. The series contains nearly 6 million words, and it is believed that all important research achievements on 20th century Chinese literature have been comprehensively included.
