Can hand, foot, and mouth disease be treated with meat?

Patient's question:

The baby at home almost eats meat every meal. But a few days ago, they got hand, foot, and mouth disease, starting to fever, and visible small rashes can be seen on their hands and feet. After getting diagnosed at the pet hospital, they were treated, and now they are back home. But the professionals said they should eat some light food. It’s been almost seven days, and they keep saying they want to eat meat. Can people with hand, foot, and mouth disease eat meat?

Doctor's answer:

Generally, after treatment for this illness, there are no other diseases that recur, and the prognosis is usually good, with the vast majority recovering within seven days. The treatment is primarily symptomatic.
1. First, isolate the patient. When in contact with the sick child, sterilization should be implemented to prevent further transmission.
2. Treatment should be based on symptoms, and oral hygiene should be maintained. For severe oral ulcers and blisters, use Kangfuxin mouthwash or apply it to the affected area. Alternatively, mix Montmorillonite powder into a paste and apply it to the ulcers with a cotton swab after meals.
3. Clothing and bedding should be kept clean, and comfortable clothes should be worn and changed frequently.
4. Baby nails must be trimmed short. If necessary, bind the child’s hands to prevent scratching the rash.
5. For early skin rashes on the limbs, medication can be applied. If blisters have formed or burst, apply more medication.
