Patient's question:
I love my child very much, and I pay close attention to his health every day. I believe health is more important than anything else. However, recently, I don't know what's wrong with him, and he has started to develop swelling again. I'm very worried about him, so I took him to the hospital for a thorough examination. After the examination, the doctor said it was due to nephrotic syndrome. I really want to quickly treat his condition. What kind of help is needed: Can children with nephrotic syndrome be cured?
Doctor's answer:
Nephrotic syndrome refers to a group of syndromes characterized by glomerular inflammation with increased permeability of the glomerular basement membrane and reduced glomerular filtration rate, caused by various different etiologies. In clinical diagnosis, nephrotic syndrome primarily manifests as symptoms such as large amounts of proteinuria in the urine, hypoproteinemia, severe edema, and hyperlipidemia. The glomerular filtration membrane in the human body is composed of the capillary endothelial cell layer, the basal membrane, and the visceral epithelial cell layer of the glomerular capsule. This filtration membrane acts as a barrier to protein removal. When nephrotic syndrome recurs, this barrier function is impaired, leading to enhanced protein filtration and thus recurrent proteinuria.
