Chapter Beijing Love
1. A Thousand Miles of Fate
In July 1986, I graduated from the Tourism Department of Fujian Overseas Chinese University (initially a junior college, later changed to a bachelor's degree program) and was assigned to work as a tour guide in the American Department of the China Travel Service in Beijing. A year later, one morning, I met a summer tourist group from Hong Kong, mainly students, at the capital airport as a local guide. They came from the United States, Canada, and Southeast Asia. Since it was midnight, most of the group members were very tired, so I briefly introduced the itinerary for the next few days and then took them to the Hui Long Guan Hotel. The next morning, after breakfast, I was on my way to the assembly point when suddenly a tall and handsome young man appeared in front of me. "Shi Fang, good morning! My name is SH, and I'm with your group."
