Patient's question:
When sleeping, there should be a slight sweat. All the hair is coming out.Doctor's answer:
It is a normal phenomenon for children to sweat while sleeping, as their sweat glands are more developed. Sweat production is controlled by the autonomic nervous system (vagus nerve). When asleep, the vagus nerve becomes excited, leading to increased sweating, usually concentrated on the head and face, but it typically subsides within one to two hours. If sweating persists after falling asleep and is quite profuse, it could be a sign of a functional disorder of the autonomic nervous system, with some cases possibly being caused by calcium deficiency.
