Can newborn hemolytic disease be relieved?

Patient's question:

Doctor, my wife gave birth to a baby at the hospital two days ago, but this morning the doctor told us that the baby has hemolytic disease. I am very concerned about the baby's health and want him to recover quickly. So, can neonatal hemolytic disease heal on its own?

Doctor's answer:

Hemolytic disease refers to the antibodies produced when the blood type of a newborn and the mother are incompatible, leading to an autoimmune reaction. This condition can be self-cured. The general treatment methods include blue light therapy, blood exchange therapy, and medication. Blood exchange therapy involves replacing as much of the child's blood as possible. This is done by performing surgery while exchanging the blood, and once the majority of the child's blood is replaced with fresh blood, the condition improves.
