Features: The Guanzi is an ancient pre-Qin classic of China and one of the most important foundational texts among the Zhou-Qin Zis. It has a compendium-like nature, covering a wide range of aspects of politics, economy, culture, and military during the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods. It not only preserves a wealth of academic and cultural historical materials but also reflects the conflicts and exchanges between various schools of thought such as Confucianism, Taoism, Legalism, Agriculture, and Yin-Yang. It is extremely valuable. However, due to the extensive and complex content of the entire book, its long history, and subsequent disarrangements during transmission, after Liu Xiang of the Western Han Dynasty "fixed it as eighty-six chapters," there were already ten missing before the Tang Dynasty. The remaining chapters are also difficult to determine their dates of composition, with textual errors rampant. Despite the corrections, arrangements, and studies by scholars over the centuries, many unresolved issues remain, making it challenging to read. The New Commentary on Guanzi builds upon the achievements of predecessors and strives to present a new annotated edition of Guanzi that reflects contemporary academic developments and meets modern needs, which is highly meaningful. The New Commentary on Guanzi is a fully annotated version of the Guanzi that primarily focuses on textual exegesis, aiming to clarify sentences and integrate the meaning of each chapter concisely and clearly. Each chapter begins with an "Introduction," which provides a concise outline and is easy to understand, serving as a systematic reference for readers.
