Features: In the past two decades, due to the continuous intersection of biotechnology and environmental science and engineering, as well as the constant application of biotechnology in environmental protection, a new discipline—environmental biotechnology has gradually developed and has become one of the most effective and economic means to solve complex environmental problems. This series of books provides a comprehensive description of current environmental biotechnology from the perspectives of engineering design, application, and development prospects, primarily introducing two aspects of environmental biotechnology, including: (1) the design methods and application status of new treatment technologies for wastewater and waste gas, especially aerobic treatment methods such as the AB process and SBR, as well as anaerobic treatment methods like UASB, EGSB, and IC reactors; (2) the biosynthetic processes and industrial prospects of environmentally friendly products used in environmental protection, particularly biodegradable plastics, bioflocculants, bio-adsorbents, and some typical enzyme preparations for environmental protection. This book aims to strengthen the exchange of information among various disciplines, especially biotechnology, environmental engineering, chemical engineering, material engineering, etc., by compiling knowledge from these fields. Technical personnel engaged in biotechnology research and learning will gain engineering knowledge of waste treatment processes and material production processes from the book, while students and professionals working in fields such as environmental engineering will learn about microbial and biochemical technologies for waste degradation and material production. From the perspectives of engineering design, application, and development prospects, this book provides a comprehensive description of current environmental biotechnology, primarily introducing two aspects of environmental biotechnology: the methods and status of new treatment technologies for wastewater and waste gas; and the industrial prospects of typical environmentally friendly enzyme preparations such as biodegradable plastics and bioflocculants.
