Features: However, the spiritual and cultural products specially prepared for the elderly now can hardly meet their needs for spiritual life. They eagerly attend classes, yet the textbooks in their hands are not designed specifically for them; they enter bookstores full of anticipation, only to find that the bookshelves are filled with reading materials published for them. Against this backdrop, in 2001, Anhui Fine Arts Publishing House planned and published the "Calligraphy Teaching Series for the Elderly University." This series covers various aspects of calligraphy techniques, creation, and appreciation, and includes enlarged example characters to serve as practice sheets. The series is comprehensive in content, well-structured, and distinctive in features, making it relatively suitable for the learning characteristics of the elderly. After entering the market, it was highly popular and has been reprinted multiple times. To make this calligraphy teaching series even more classic, more aligned with the practical needs of the elderly, and to give it a longer-lasting life, our publishing house, based on feedback, has decided to revise the series. The revised edition is divided into four volumes: Regular Script, Running Script, Clerical Script, and Cursive Script. It is more focused, concise, and practical. According to readers' suggestions, some unclear images have been replaced, and two additional sections—historical development of scripts and brush techniques—have been added to help the elderly gain a deeper understanding of the script they are learning and to provide a clearer grasp of the characteristics of brush techniques. The revised edition retains the strengths of the original version, dedicating most of its content to detailed illustrations of brush techniques, structural methods, and layout principles to address the difficulties the elderly may encounter in practical calligraphy. It also provides creative models based on the calligraphic styles of the masters selected for each volume, using formats such as hanging scrolls and vertical scrolls as clues, accompanied by concise and clear explanations to help readers improve together through practice. Additionally, the series introduces important historical works of various scripts, allowing readers to learn from more masterpieces while appreciating them.
