Features: The Four Divisions General Catalog is a bibliographic work that includes the Four Divisions (Confucian classics, history, philosophy, and literature), specializing in collecting the works of scholars from ancient to modern times, limited to those still available in print, and supplemented with prefaces, postfaces, and annotations by previous scholars. It was first released in 1929 by my teacher, Mr. Ding Zhonghu, from his self-established Medical Books Publishing House. He personally typeset over 2,000 pages, but due to the vast volume, my teacher worried about his limited strength and could not complete the work. Thus, it was handed over to the Commercial Press to continue the completion. However, the Commercial Press also only typeset over 3,000 pages, totaling nearly 6,500 pages, all of which have been cast into molds. There are still about 1,000 pages of manuscript that remain untypeset. This spring, the Commercial Press responded to the call of the central government to promote the study and research of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and plans to utilize the existing molds to first publish the section on medical scholars in the philosophy division, renaming it "Four Divisions General Catalog—Medical Edition" as a standalone volume to facilitate readers studying and researching Chinese medicine. This is a source of great joy for the compilers. This book serves as an introductory guide for studying TCM and a fundamental reference tool for researching TCM. Yu Jiaxi in his work "Micro-Commentaries on Bibliography" states: "Bibliographic works are meant to guide scholars in their reading, saving them from the labor of exploration." This book fulfills exactly such a role. After its publication, I believe that all comrades studying and researching TCM and the history of Chinese medicine will find this work helpful.
