Zizhi Tongjian (Bei Yang's Colloquial Version): Zizhi Tongjian is a monumental work that condenses the political movements and power struggles of ancient China. It is a must-read for ancient emperors to learn from history and govern wisely. Nine hundred years later, Mr. Bei Yang spent ten years (1983-1993) translating it into modern language, personally drawing maps, and infusing his own perspectives to discuss the causes of historical success and failure. This made a history book originally intended only for emperors and generals so accessible to readers today. The Bei Yang Version of Zizhi Tongjian was selected as Taiwan's "Most Influential Book of the Year" in 1983.
