Publishing Date: 2007-02-01
Features: Contemporary China Chronicle (1949.10-2004.10) is a collective research project and a phased foundational research outcome established after the establishment of the Master's and Doctoral disciplines of Contemporary Chinese History in the School of Communist Party History of the Institute of Marxism at Renmin University of China. It covers the political, economic, cultural, and social development of contemporary China from October 1949 to October 2004, spanning 55 years (due to various subjective and objective factors such as policy, data, time, and research capacity, this book currently does not include Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau). Each year is documented with major events in the Annals format, featuring both narration and commentary, with equal emphasis on data and research. The primary authors of this book are a batch of doctoral students admitted to this discipline (most of whom were already lecturers and associate professors at universities across the country before enrollment). This book is a phased academic outcome of research funded by the Marxism Basic Theory Research Philosophy and Social Sciences Innovation Base project under Renmin University of China's Project 985.
