Features: This experimental textbook is based on the original New Biochemistry Laboratory Manual (published by People's Medical Publishing House in March 2002), summarizing the past five years of teaching and usage experiences. It has been further adapted in terms of content and editing style, aiming to serve as material for exploring teaching reform in biochemistry and molecular biology for undergraduate medical students. The adaptations mainly include the following aspects:
① Adjusting the experimental content based on four major modules: biomacromolecules, material metabolism, genetic information analysis techniques, and molecular diagnosis of diseases;
② Adding clinical typical cases to facilitate discussions, guiding students to combine their biochemistry and molecular biology knowledge to analyze these cases, thereby further clarifying the biochemical and molecular biological mechanisms of disease occurrence;
③ Supplementing each experiment with (Experimental Significance) or (Clinical Significance), and adding sections like (Practice and Reflection) to encourage critical thinking and question-raising;
④ Increasing comprehensive and design-based experimental projects, proposing basic principles and approaches for topic design;
⑤ Correcting existing errors and omissions in the original text.
The editors hope that through the adaptation of the textbook, it can meet the needs of higher medical education reform, enabling students to engage with clinical problems earlier and apply their biochemistry and molecular biology knowledge to clinical analysis at an early stage. This will expand research perspectives, enhance problem-solving and analytical skills, and improve overall competence.
This textbook is primarily intended as a supplementary teaching material for biochemistry and molecular biology in undergraduate programs of medical and pharmaceutical institutions. It can also be used by students at other levels or as a reference for biochemistry and molecular biology teachers and clinical professionals.
