Features: This book is the first comprehensive history of Chinese philosophy compiled in the field of Chinese philosophy by the Department of Philosophy at Fudan University since its establishment fifty years ago. It accumulates the research achievements of several generations of Fudan scholars. It is also the first time that such a large-scale history of Chinese philosophy has been compiled in Shanghai, let alone in East China. The authors include professors such as Zhang Rulun, Xu Hongxing, Lin Hongxing, and Wu Zhen from the Department of Philosophy at Fudan University, all of whom have received systematic academic training and have long-term experiences of studying abroad. Therefore, the compilation of this book can be said to start from the ideological materials of Chinese philosophy itself, taking Western studies as a reference to construct a philosophy system with national characteristics. The development history of Chinese philosophy from the pre-Qin period to the modern era is systematically re-explained in combination with the current research achievements of this discipline. Especially, the project leader is the renowned professor Zhang Rulun from the Department of Philosophy at Fudan University, who specializes in the history of Western philosophy. With his profound background in both Chinese and Western philosophy and his practical philosophy views, he provides a fresh review of the history of Chinese philosophy. Unlike other works on the history of Chinese philosophy that emphasize discussing Chinese philosophy within the framework of the history of Western philosophy, this book takes the characteristics of Chinese philosophy itself as the approach, exploring the legitimacy of Chinese philosophy and constructing a national system within the context of world culture.
