Features: This book, "Basic Knowledge of the Single Market," is a sub-volume of "Interpreting EU Market Technical Rules." The European Union is currently the world's largest regional integration organization and also China's second-largest trading partner. The EU has established a unique legal system. "Basic Knowledge of the Single Market" aims to provide enterprises with fundamental economic, trade, legal, and background knowledge about the EU's Single Market, helping export enterprises gain a certain understanding and recognition of EU laws, the legal system of the Single Market, and the EU's foreign economic and trade legal system. On this basis, it offers a deeper and more comprehensive understanding of the EU's trade technical barriers mechanism. Chapter 1 provides a general introduction to the historical development from the European Community to the European Union and the role of EC and EU laws in promoting and laying the foundation for the construction of the European Union during its establishment and development. The EU relies on its unique legal system formed during its development to maintain cooperation among member states and provide reliable mechanisms for the activities of EU institutions. This chapter also introduces the nature of the European Community and the European Union, emphasizing that the EC is a highly integrated, supranational regional organization with new characteristics and is one of the three pillars of the EU. It should not be equated with or replace the EU, nor does the EU possess the international legal personality of the EC. Chapter 2 introduces the primary, derivative, and other forms of sources of EU law. It covers EU legislation, entry into force, and its impact, with a focus on the legislative procedures of the European Council and the European Commission, particularly the consultation process, cooperation process, and codecision process in legislation. Chapter 3 introduces the functions and operations of the main EU institutions, including the European Council, the European Commission, the Council of the European Union, the European Parliament, and the European Court of Justice. Chapter 4 covers the legal system of the EU's Single Market. Chapter 5 introduces the EU's foreign economic and trade legal system, with a focus on the EU's unified technical standards system and the EU Product Liability Law.
