Research on Ancient Chinese Legislative Culture

Features: This book is Shi Guangquan's doctoral dissertation. In terms of the article structure, the author first adopts the "Three Levels of Cultural Structure" theory in the introduction, which refers to the theory of three levels of culture—spirit, system, and material objects—to define what constitutes ancient Chinese legislative culture. It points out that legislative culture refers to the sum of legislative thought (theory), legislative systems, and legislative texts. Therefore, ancient Chinese legislative culture is the sum of ancient Chinese legislative thought (theory), legislative systems, and legislative texts. This definition can be said to be quite accurate. Second, the author explains why he chose this topic—the reason he chose it was based on an examination of the current state of research on traditional Chinese legal culture. He believes that while current research on traditional Chinese legal culture has overcome the past bifurcation of institutional history and intellectual history, it has also become overly comprehensive and overly general.
