Features: This book follows the development of poetic themes and subjects as its thread, primarily conducting a preliminary review of the academic history of several important poetic themes in pre-Qin to Tang Dynasty poetry since the 20th century. This includes studies on historical poetry, homesickness poetry, spring and autumn poetry, political poetry, parting poetry, pastoral poetry, landscape poetry, frontier poetry, love poetry, mountain-climbing poetry, heroic poetry, Qixi poetry, and the historical review of the moon imagery topic. The academic history tracing of a few chapters extends somewhat to the Tang Dynasty and touches upon the research on related poetry since the Song and Yuan dynasties. However, the main focus of the book remains on the research achievements of pre-Qin to Tang Dynasty poetry. The relevant research discussed in the book mostly ends in 2005, with a few chapters also covering some results from 2006. Through this review, we have gained a clearer understanding of the research history and current state of these topics. This is necessary for the planned next step in research, and we sincerely hope it will be beneficial to the study of pre-Qin to Tang Dynasty poetry.
