Features: The editors of this book have conducted extensive research on the data of Chinese enterprises going global and conducted field interviews and investigations on a portion of the cases. Based on this, they have compiled 26 corporate cross-border investment cases and analyzed the development status of China's multinational companies in the past three years, providing reference materials for relevant researchers. The rapid development of Chinese multinational companies is reflected in the increase in the number of cross-border investments. According to data from the Ministry of Commerce and the National Bureau of Statistics, the amounts of cross-border investments by Chinese enterprises from 2003 to 2005 were $1.7 billion, $2.9 billion, and $8.8 billion, respectively. Clearly, the number of cross-border investments by Chinese enterprises has seen a sharp increase in the past three years. This book collects and compiles 26 corporate cases, many of which have achieved overseas investments through cross-border mergers and acquisitions. For example, Lenovo Group achieved cross-border investment by acquiring IBM's personal computer division. SGS (Shanghai Industrial Group) became a multinational company through the acquisition of Germany's DA company. The author visited the case of SGS in Germany in May of this year and also examined the case of Beijing Machine Tool Works acquiring Germany's Coburg Machine Tool Works. The increase in cross-border merger and acquisition cases, especially successful ones, indicates that Chinese multinational companies are developing rapidly.
